How to change DNS server in Windows XP/7/8?

Change your DNS server settings in Windows XP:
Open your connection properties > Networking Tab
How To Increase Internet Speed Using Public DNS
Select 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'
How To Increase Internet Speed Using Public DNS

Select 'Use the following DNS server addresses' and enter the following 2 addresses to use OpenDNS and Google DNS respectively:
1. OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
2. Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
 
Change DNS server in Windows 7

 1.Go to Start > click on Control Panel
 2.In the search box type “adapter”
 3.Now under Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections.
 4.Now right-click on the connection you are using example, Local Area Connection.
 5.Click on Properties and double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
 6.Now select use the following DNS server Address
 7.Type your preferred DNS server address in the given field.

 Preferred DNS server: 8 8 8 8
 Alternate DNS server: 8 8 4 4

Now click on OK and you have successfully changed the DNS server in your Windows 7 PC.

Change DNS server in Windows 8
Now if you are using Microsoft’s latest operation System Windows 8 then do the following to change the DNS server in Windows 8.
1.Go to Control Panel or Type Control Panel in the start screen and click on Control Panel.Now under 2.Network and Internet click on View network status and tasks.
3.Click the link next to Connections on the right.
4.Now Right click on the connection you are using > Select properties
5.Double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
6.Select use the following DNS server Address
7.Type your preferred DNS server address in the given field.

 Preferred DNS server: 8 8 8 8
 Alternate DNS server: 8 8 4 4

Click OK and save the setting.
