TIME

THE STORY OF TIME  -Part 1

The Universe in a year

The American astronomer Carl Sagan first suggested a cosmic calender as a way of helping people understand the history of Universe. He put everything into the scale of a calender year:the galaxies are formed over nine months and the earth appears in September.
"Human history is crowded into the last five minutes of the year.Recent time is divided into seconds and fractions of a second. So everything that happened in the last 475 years.take place in less than the last second of the last minute of the year."
  •  Earth's life in a year

    • 1st January (midnight) : Big Bang - Universe Forms
    • 15 March : First stars and galaxies form
    • 1 May : Milky Way galaxy forms
    • 8 Sep   : Sun forms
    • 9 Sep   : Solar System forms
    • 12 Sep : Earth forms
    • 13 Sep : Moon forms
    • 20 Sep : Earth's atmosphere forms
    • 1 Oct   : Earliest known life on Earth
    • 7 Oct   : Earliest Known Fossil
    • 18 Dec : First Many-celled life forms
    • 19 Dec : First Fish
    • 21 Dec : First land plant; First insects
    • 23 Dec : First reptiles
    • 24 Dec : First dinosaurs
    • 26 Dec : First mammals
    • 27 Dec : First birds
    • 28 Dec : First flowering plants
    • 28 Dec : Dinosaurs extinct
    • 31 Dec : Homo sapiens

Time Zones

World time zones and the International Date Line
The Earth is constantly turning on its axis.If people everywhere set there clock to the same time, midnight would be in the middle of the night on one side of the globe , but the middle of the day on the opposite side.To avoid this problem the Earth is divided into artificial time zones. These generally follow lines of longitude-imaginary lines running from the North to South Pole. Some large countries, such as the USA, cover several time zones.Mainland USA is divided into Atlantic,Eastern,Central,Mountain,Pacific and Alaska zones, with Hawaii and other islands falling into further zones.
Since the Greenwich Prime Meridian (0 degree) was established in 1884,there have been 24 time zones, each of 15 degree longitude and an hour apart. Those to the east are ahead of Greenwich by one hour per zone. Those to the west are behind by one hour each. Some countries, such as India, have chosen zones halfway between those on either side,so that the whole country can use the same time.

The International Date Line

The International Date Line is a imaginary line between the North and South Poles. It marks the end of one day and the start of another.Countries to the East of the Date Line are always a day ahead of those to the west.Travelers who cross the line gain or lose a day, depending on which direction they are going.
Most of the Date Line follows 180 degree Meridian (on the opposite side of the globe from 0 degree, the Greenwich Meridian). The line generally passes through sea,but where it would pass through or near certain land areas, it is adjusted it.It zigzags around islands, putting them either into the west or the east, and avoids dividing Siberia in north-east Asia into two time zones.

I Phone 7 - Rumors Were real?

Apple's next-generation smartphone dubbed as the iPhone 7 is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2015 by the time its predecessor, the iPhone 6, completes one year in the market.
iPhone 7 is expected to be released on 9 September, according to the reports. However, the report can't be taken as a credible one, as Apple Inc. is unlikely to reveal any information about its device, forget the date. However, expectations on the iPhone 7 will be high following the stupendous success of its predecessors, and here are few features it must have to please its fans:
According to the reports that the iPhone 7 will have a larger screen in the same form factor as the iPhone 6. This could be achieved by using a thinner bezel and relocating the ear speaker, front camera and proximity sensor to the phone's edge. Most reports have speculated that iPhone 7 could appear with a 5.5 inch screen. It remains to be seen if these tweaks can indeed allow for a jump from the current 4.7 inch screen of I Phone 6.
A few high-end smartphones, including the Nexus 5 have wireless charging facility. Samsung is expected to introduce the feature in its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, which is expected to be unveiled at MWC 2015. Apple too should bring wireless charging to its iPhone 7.Apple might be planning to add two cameras onto the back of the iPhone 7, if a new patent for “small form factor telephoto camera” is anything to go on.
Also, the handset will presumably be waterproof. Many Android smartphones already pack this particular feature. It was first popularized by Sony X-Peria smartphone, and most users like this feature as it is inevitable to use the handset near water. The main difference is that, the entire Apple smartphone and all of its circuits will presumably be waterproof, which will prevent damage when submerged in water.Another rumored feature of the handset is gesture controls that will allow users to use the device without physically touching it. This is also packed in some Samsung Galaxy smartphones, and some think that Apple is falling behind in this aspect of the race.
All of us need to wait until September 9 reveal all the rumors about I Phone 7.

Samsung A5- Review

  1. Network   :GSM / H SPA / LTE
  2. Display    :5.0 inches,Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 720*1280p resolution
  3. Memory   :2GB Ram,16GB Internal,Micro SD up to 64GB
  4. Processor :Quad-Core 1.2GHz Cortex-A53
  5. Camera    :Primary 13 MP,Secondary 5 MP
  6. OS           :Android OS, v4.4.4 (Kit-Kat), upgradable to v5.0.2 (Lollipop)
  7. Battery    :2300 mAh battery Non-removable Li-Ion
Samsung went down the chambered metal edges look this time. They call it a uni-body design but the back is still plastic. There's Gorilla Glass 4 on the display and something quite well-balanced and symmetrical about the A5. The metal chiseled sides glint as they catch the light and talking of light, the phone weighs a mere 123 grams despite all the metal.
My review version was a pearly white and the glint extends to the rim, around the pill shaped Home button and on the back around the raised camera lens. There are four other colours available with equally fancy names but in lay terms they are: dark blue, white, pale gold and silver. There is an expandable storage slot on one end- it takes a micro-SD slot upping the memory by 64GB over the slightly puny 16GB that the phone comes with. Next to it, there is a SIM card slot- a nanoSIM, Samsung have quietly made the switch over to the tinier version.

The 5-inch screen is an HD one with a 1280 x 720 resolution. It may not be a 4K screen, but it gets the high definition sticker next to its name. It has a 294 pixel per inch density and Samsung's usual Super AMOLED sharp and bright screen is here for all to enjoy.A 13-MP super snapper does the job for the Galaxy A5. And it comes with enough add-ons to keep even the most dedicated camera phone photographers happy. There is a burst mode that can convert your images into animated gifs, it even gives you an opportunity to download a series of paid and free modes for your phone. During my time reviewing the phone, there were two available: Sports shot and another one called the Sound & shot, boh with 4/5 star reviews.

I know it is a mid-range phone and I shouldn't really crib, but the phone still runs last generation of Android. It is Android 4.4.2 that helps you through with your daily tasks here and to add insult to injury, Samsung's much derided and older version of Touch-wiz, its user interface is overlaid onto it.
Samsung are planning on rolling out the new Android update onto this phone soon, but until that happens, we are stuck in the past. The A5 packs a 2300 mAH battery which, to put it mildly just about a day long. The bit that works in favour of this phone is te fact that it has a lower resolution than flagships and so the 2300 mAH which might seem meagre in comparison with the 3000 mAH of the Honor 6 Plus, but it made through an entire day's worth of internetting for us.A quad-core processor makes up the brains bit of the phone. With a 1.2GHz processor, the A5 isn't the most powerful mid-range phone in the market, in fact, far from it. We recently reviewed the Honor 6 Plus which packs an octa-core processor for a very similar price range as the A5. And sadly in terms of processing power, the A5 doesn't really match up.

The Galaxy S6 Edge display looks great, but not as good as the Galaxy S6 display which is a little more vibrant and bright. Swiping on the curved edge feels wonderful and the curved display on the Galaxy S6 Edge definitely carries a cool factor with it. Two downsides to the curved display are that the text can sometimes wrap to the edge on webpages distorting it slightly and the curved edge can pick up a more glare in bright areas.
